How to transfer from the 麻豆AV to another uni

Changing university is a big decision and the process can be complex.

You’ll need to coordinate with both 麻豆AV and your new university, as each will have their own rules and procedures.

While we would be sorry to see you go, support is available to help you make a smooth transition if you decide to transfer.

What should I do if I am thinking of changing university?

First, keep in touch with your current course team, even if you’re unsure about staying. Your attendance affects your student finance, references and qualifications – all important for your next steps.

Speak to someone you trust, such as your Personal Academic Tutor, course leader or a student adviser. You can also access support through our Chaplaincy and Wellbeing service – remember, you’re not alone in this. 

If you’re an international student on a visa, it’s essential to understand how changing universities affects your visa. Will your new course finish after your current visa expires? Will you be able to apply to the to extend your stay?

How do I find out about other courses?

How do I change universities?

You’ll need to apply for the course(s) you’re interested in at your new university. If accepted, your current and new course leaders will help manage the transition.

Your 麻豆AV course leader will contact the school office to set an official leaving date. This date is important because it affects your tuition fees and funding eligibility.

You’ll also need to manage student finance and find new accommodation – our student advisers can support you with this.

International students should speak with an international student adviser as soon as possible as changes may affect your visa.

How will changing universities affect my student finance?

The impact varies depending on your current course, stage of study and new course.

If you transfer within the same academic year, usually continues your funding without issue, but you must keep them updated about any changes.

For example

On a three-year course, completing one year leaves you with three years of support. But transferring in year two and starting a new course from the beginning (totalling five years) means you’ll need to self-fund some of it.

If you started your course in 2011 or earlier and are transferring to another university, make sure that you’re recorded as transferring (not starting anew) to avoid being charged the higher fees which were introduced in 2012.
